The next in the series of Winter Talks organized by the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket will be held via ZOOM on Wednesday, 24th January starting at 19:00.
“An Evening with Chris Cooke” will see the batter and wicket-keeper reflect on his playing career so far, as well as a place in the Club’s record books as having scored a century in every format of the game – Championship, List A and T20 – besides holding the record for the fastest-ever hundred in the Club’s history, set last summer at Merchant Taylors’ School when Chris scored a century from just 38 balls against Middlesex in the T20 competition. 2024 is also Chris’ Testimonial Year so the evening will also look back on his career with the bat and gloves, both with Glamorgan and in domestic cricket in South Africa.
As always, attendance at the virtual meeting will be free of charge with those wishing to attend being asked to send an email to museum@glamorgancricket.co.uk by noon on Monday, 22 January. A confirmation reply will be sent out, whilst joining details for the meeting via ZOOM will be sent by email at approx. 1800 on Wednesday, 24 January. The talk will be recorded and a copy placed in due course on the Museum website.
As a tailpiece the St Helen’s Balconiers will be hosting a lunch on the 15th November 2024 at the Towers Hotel, Jersey Marine as one of Chris Cooke’s Testimonial events – further details to follow.
“An Evening with Hugh Morris MBE” will be the final session this year’s programme of Winter Talks organized by the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket, with the former opening batter and captain of Glamorgan and England A speaking, via ZOOM, on Friday 8 December starting at 1900.
Hugh Morris has had an outstanding career with Glamorgan County Cricket Club spanning over 40 years as a player and administrator. “An Evening with Hugh Morris” will see him reflect on his illustrious playing career with the Welsh county, including winning the 1993 Sunday League title plus the County Championship in 1997, in addition to his time – albeit briefly – in Test cricket as well as his work with the ECB prior to returning to Glamorgan during 2013 as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Cricket.
Hugh is standing down from his role as CEO at the end of the month, so during this ZOOM talk he will also reflect on his many achievements over the course of the past ten years as well as looking forward to the coming years and how the Club will continue to flourish. Attendance at the virtual meeting will be free of charge with those wishing to attend being asked to send an email to museum@glamorgancricket.co.uk by noon on Thursday, 7 December. A confirmation reply will follow, whilst joining details for the meeting via ZOOM will be sent by email at approx. 1800 on Friday 8 December. The talk will be recorded and, in due course, a copy will be placed on the Museum website.
